Severely dented Superpails -- problematic?

1 Attachment(s)
I've been inspecting a storage food purchase I made, and a number of the Superpails are severely dented. One example is attached to this post. I believe this might have happened because of cold weather when these items were delivered back last winter.

Is this extreme denting going to pose a problem to the long-term viability of this storage food? There don't appear to be cracks in the pails, just the denting. Any recommendations about how I might best mitigate this damage? Thanks!

I have several that almost that bad.

As long as they hold you are fine. I wouldn't bang them around just a whole lot, especially if the plastic is cold. Those buckets are pretty tough.

BTW> The issue I think is that they are packed in a higher elevation with the oxy absorbers.

When they get shipped to a lower elevation, such as here in Texas (100ft above sea level) The pressure differential is exaggerated.

Me too, I thought it was florida heat or something. I received them that way it didn't happen in captivity.

edit: That's a good point TG I think you may be right, I hadn't given the altitude any thought, but as I write this I am 7 inches above sea level and the sheepshead are cleaning my bottom for me.

My pails were from beprepared.com

Orem elevation is 4770 feet above sea level

Vs.. 100 feet above sea level.

I don't remember where the two that i have that are really bad came from, i've ordered from several sources. They are both organic black beans.

All that is is a pressure differential. It means that your pails are very well sealed and have even less oxygen in them than normal. Store with confidence. Bx3

Yup, that is normal. Those pails are holding a vacuum....you are good to go.

Thanks for all of your input. I feel a lot better about the integrity of my pails now!

Here's the solution:

Move to a higher altitude.
